D.C. Global Talent Inc. is Hiring a Financial Controller Near Minneapolis, MN

The Controller manages daily accounting and finance activities with property leadership, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash handling, and all revenue and expense accounts. The Controller, Operations, and Regional Finance leaders are critical in monthly forecasting and annual budgeting. This position requires strong financial expertise and an understanding of responding to hotel operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
  • Stay updated on organizational policies, federal and state directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Review, verify, and report daily revenue and expense reports.
  • Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets, regulatory reports, and other requested reports.
  • Analyze financial activities to identify opportunities for development and areas needing improvement.
  • Monitor financial details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure compliance with legal, brand, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducted or coordinated audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure state and federal regulations compliance.
  • Prepare and file annual tax returns in coordination with the corporate team and ownership.
  • Handle payroll deductions.
  • Assist with employee insurance, benefits, and casualty programs, including monitoring changes in health insurance regulations and budgeting for benefits and workers' compensation.
  • Oversee contracts and agreements and assist hotel management with maintaining licenses, permits, insurance, and contracts.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, consistently communicating departmental goals to achieve desired results.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train Finance associates.
  • Supervise employees handling financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties.
  • Create associate development plans based on their strengths, needs, aspirations, and abilities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and discipline staff as necessary.
  • Maintain a professional appearance according to hotel standards.
  • The hotel's core competencies include work product, teamwork, culture, guest service, work ethic, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship.
  • Perform duties directly related to the hotel's business operations and customers, exercising discretion and independent judgment on significant matters.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a similar or complementary role in a full-service hospitality operation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, M3 accounting software, ProfitSword, Property Management Systems, Point of Sale Systems, payroll systems, and other finance-related platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including complaint handling and resolution.
  • Results-oriented and highly motivated self-starter.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage multiple concurrent demands, and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in numerical analysis and the ability to formulate conclusions and solutions.
  • Approachable, authentic, and engaging demeanor, setting an example for associates.
  • Proven track record in a management role with the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage staff.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
  • Requires writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
This is an onsite role with no remote work. ONLY US CITIZEN
