Garden Healthcare is Hiring an Activities Program Director | Skilled Nursing Facility *NEW Near Cuyahoga Falls, OH

Cuyahoga Falls Rehab & Nursing Center is seeking a full-time Activities Director to join our team. The ideal candidates must be devoted and compassionate about their chosen careers. The Activities Director will have experience working with individuals with dementia, have a highly enthusiastic personality, and be able to develop creative activities for our residents.

Job Summary:As the Activities Director at Cuyahoga Falls Rehab and Nursing, you will play a critical role in supporting our residents by coordinating a range of activities that enhance their quality of life and well-being. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Activity Program Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate a diverse activities program tailored to the individual needs and interests of residents. Plan and coordinate a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities, both on and off-site (as transportation allows.) Ensure that activities are designed to accommodate the varying physical and cognitive abilities of residents in addition to a wide range of ages, races, religions, and genders. Create monthly activity calendar that incorporates programming throughout the entire day (specialized units to have specialized calendars)
  • Resident Assessments and Care Planning: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate activities into the overall care plan for each resident. Conduct regular assessments to identify residents' preferences and adjust the activity program accordingly. Update and adjust resident care plans on a regular basis and as needed. Attending Care Conference meetings on a regular basis with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and their respective families (upon admission, quarterly, upon discharge, and as needed.)
  • Resident Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages resident participation and engagement in activities. Gain support from line staff to promote positive morale amongst residents.
  • Budget Management: Manage the activities budget effectively, ensuring optimal utilization of resources for the benefit of residents.
  • Staff Training and Supervision: Train and supervise activities staff to ensure they provide high-quality, person-centered care. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the activities department. Manage the staff schedules of the department to ensure resident needs are met with daily activities (including evenings and weekends.) Be able to fill in as needed in absence of staff to carry out day to day activity programs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and document the impact of activities on resident well-being. Provide regular reports to the facility administration on the activities program's effectiveness and resident engagement when requested. Document residents’ participation summary in facility EMR on a regular basis and as needed. Update and adjust resident care plans on a regular basis and as needed.

Qualifications:

·Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field preferred

·Previous experience in planning and implementing activities programs in a healthcare setting, preferably in a skilled nursing facility.

·Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and methods suitable for seniors with varying physical and cognitive abilities

·Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

·Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
