Gravis Law, PLLC is Hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Near Tri-Cities, WA

Description:

The SDET is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving automated test frameworks and tools to ensure the quality and reliability of software products. They are also responsible for ensuring that the software products meet the required quality standards before they are released to Gravis Law systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop automated test scripts and frameworks following industry best practices.
  • Ability to write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using these frameworks.
  • Implement, execute, and maintain automated test cases to validate software functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Contribute to the development of Gravis Law's internal case management application (Clever Case) by participating in coding, code reviews, and debugging.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to define test strategies and plans.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage for new features and regression testing.
  • Continuously enhance and optimize test frameworks and tools.
  • Stay up to date with the latest testing tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Document test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test results.
  • Validate, reproduce and document bugs and minor feature requests as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a relevant field and 2 years of relevant software development or testing experience, or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with automated Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec, Minitest, and Capybara.
  • Experience with the Rails or other MVC framework, including its conventions and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using Git & GitHub version control systems.
  • Experience with databases used in Rails applications, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Keen eye for detail to ensure tests cover all possible edge cases and scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with developers, QA engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to cross-functional projects.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the legal technology industry.
  • Experience with Agile development.
  • Knowledge of and experience with security testing practices and tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience with behavior driven (BDD) and test-driven (TDD) development.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and methodologies as needed.
  • Extensive knowledge of front-end JavaScript frameworks & libraries, ideally Ember, Bootstrap, jQuery, etc.

Wage: $75,000 - $85,000 annually

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Duties will be performed in a standard office environment. Employees must have the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Gravis policy. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work weekends, holidays, be on call, and some employees could be required to travel overnight on occasion.
