Job Title: Single Axle Dump Truck Driver

Overview:

As a Single Axle Dump Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting materials to and from construction sites, as well as assisting in various tasks related to roadway construction and maintenance. Your role will involve operating a single axle dump truck safely and efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and project requirements while supporting the overall progress of highway construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a single axle dump truck to transport construction materials such as gravel, asphalt, dirt, and debris to and from job sites.
• Follow all traffic laws and regulations, including speed limits, weight restrictions, and load securing requirements, to ensure safe transportation of materials on public roads.
• Load and unload materials onto the truck using appropriate equipment and techniques, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement.
• Inspect truck and equipment before and after each shift to ensure proper functioning, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck interior and exterior, including regular washing and removal of debris to prevent hazards and maintain a professional appearance.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate transportation activities and ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Adhere to project schedules and deadlines, prioritizing tasks based on project requirements and site conditions.
• Assist in other construction activities as needed, such as flagging, traffic control, and general labor, to support the progress of highway construction projects.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on job sites, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe driving techniques.
• Keep accurate records of daily activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and materials transported, for reporting and billing purposes.

Qualifications:

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a single axle dump truck.
• Clean driving record with no history of major violations or accidents.
• Previous experience operating a single axle dump truck in highway construction, or a similar environment preferred.
• Familiarity with construction materials and procedures, including loading and unloading techniques, weight limits, and safety regulations.
• Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting tires, and replacing lights.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and manual labor in outdoor environments.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Flexibility to work variable hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime, as needed to meet project deadlines.
• Commitment to safety and willingness to undergo additional training as required.
