Crozer Health is Hiring a Sterile Processing Technician (Certified) Near Chester, PA
The primary purpose of the Sterile Processing Technician is to collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment.
- Cleans contaminated instruments in accordance with protocols and procedures.
- Inspects and lubricates instruments in accordance with protocols, procedures, and manufacture's recommendations.
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains medical equipment for distribution.
- Processes equipment and sterile supplies for nursing departments, patient care departments, and other Crozer-Chester Medical Center facilities.
- Prepares instrument trays according to the kardex or instrument sheet.
- Wraps instruments and trays in accordance with protocols and procedures appropriate to the wrapping material expiration date.
- Operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers in accordance with protocols, procedures, and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Implements sterilization monitoring techniques in accordance with protocols and procedures.
- Inspects sterile supplies weekly, or as needed, identifying those with non-intact packaging or expired shelf life and reprocessing supplies when required.
- Processes and sterilizes all instrument trays, including specialty instrument trays.
- Ensures receipt of proper requisition forms and/ or patient charge forms prior to issuance of supplies to nursing and other departments.
- Takes inventory and requisitions departmental supplies on a weekly basis.
- Confers with nursing personnel concerning request for supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrates the correct use of dispensed patient care equipment.
- Reports patient problems, patient incidents, or changes in patient status to a Registered Nurse or supervisor.
High school graduate or equivalent
Central service certification preferred (IAHCSMM - International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material Management or NICHSPDP - National Institute of Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel)
Mandated and Permissive Reporter Training
