What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will focus on providing technical security engineering expertise related to security of Amgen's computerized networks. Areas of responsibility & accountability include:

  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of technology security controls for Amgen’s operated business interests & operations.
  • Engage business owners during development cycle to guide compliance to established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Participate on on-call schedule for network security supporting resolver groups.
  • Identify solutions and review standards, security policies and procedures with the business.
  • Work with the Cyber Threat, Vulnerability Management & Digital Investigations group in support of their needs.
  • Work with other network security team members on policy compliance efforts in accordance with Amgen’s, industry privacy and security regulations, and guidelines set forth by, Country, Federal and local laws, as applicable.
  • Provide mentorship throughout Amgen on technical subjects in your technical domain, including presenting on topics related to information security.
  • Support the information security functions of Amgen’s operated business interests & operations.
  • Work with the Cyber Threat, Vulnerability Management & Digital Investigations group to provide and/or enhance program management functions to support deployment, upgrading, and enhancement to the global technology security infrastructure.
  • Match the message to the audience when relaying technical solutions to individuals who may not have a technical background.
  • Fortinet UTM Deployment: Deploy, configure, and maintain Fortinet UTM devices across Amgen's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security posture.
  • Security Policy Management: Develop, implement, and enforce network security policies, including firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention, web filtering, and antivirus measures, utilizing Fortinet UTM capabilities.
  • Threat Monitoring and Incident Response: Monitor network traffic for security incidents, conduct threat analysis, and respond to security breaches in a timely manner, leveraging Fortinet UTM's advanced threat detection features.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize Fortinet UTM configurations to improve network performance while maintaining robust security protocols.
  • Technical Documentation: Build and maintain comprehensive documentation related to Fortinet UTM configurations, network topology, security policies, and procedures.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security requirements and share expertise on Fortinet UTM capabilities and best practices.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with Fortinet representatives and vendors to stay abreast of the latest product updates, patches, and security vulnerabilities, ensuring Amgen's network security posture remains up to date.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of engineering experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 6 years of engineering experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years as a security engineer supporting a multinational organization
  • CISSP, CISA Security or equivalent security-related industry certifications
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Information Security standards and policies
  • Proven success in leading multi-functional initiatives without formal authority
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Effective working with virtual teams
  • Experience with regulations (GxP, SOX, PII, Privacy, EU Directives) in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry is a plus
  • Successful management of multiple priorities
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative!

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
