Job Title: Associate Director of Family & Student Engagement Department: Alumni & Family Engagement Division: Advancement Supervisor: Executive Director of Alumni & Family Engagement Status: Exempt, Full-time FTE: 1.0 Job Summary: This position exists to develop and lead programs, initiatives, events, and communication for families of undergraduate students at Calvin University. Critical to this position is excellent collaboration skills with partners across Calvin’s entire campus. In addition, the role will also lead undergraduate student engagement efforts with the alumni office through the Knights For Life program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned): FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (approx.70%) Responsible for development of new, and enhancement of existing, family engagement efforts through all stages of a family’s journey while their undergraduate student attends Calvin University. Responsible for leading and developing Calvin’s Parent Council as a key advisory board and enthusiastic Calvin University support group. Serve as advocate and convener of university groups to ensure alignment of family engagement efforts within the campus community. Publicly represent Calvin University and Calvin Family Engagement in speaking engagements and presentations to various audiences. Oversee and execute various family engagement events and activities. Maintain awareness and collaboration with campus partners on impact of family engagement programing upon student retention objectives, fundraising opportunities, and recruitment efforts. Utilizes multiple communication channels (e.g., email newsletters, social media, and other online platforms) to disseminate information and maintain regular communication with parents and families. Collaborate closely with Alumni & Family Engagement staff in all stages of engagement programming and planning. STUDENT ALUMNI ENGAGMENT PROGRAM (approx.30%) Responsible for the development and management of student alumni engagement efforts, primarily through the existing Knights For Life “K4L” program. Responsible for hiring, directing, and managing the efforts of K4L student interns. Foster collaboration with student philanthropy council on mutually beneficial events and programs. Create increased awareness among current student body for benefits of being Calvin alumni. In collaboration with campus partners, represent Alumni & Family engagement office efforts to enhance mentorship efforts between current undergraduate students and alumni around the world. Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides leadership, hiring, and supervision responsibilities to K4L student employees. Competency/Skill Requirements: Proven familiarity with various digital and social media platforms, data analysis, web standards and accessibility guidelines. Solid ability to write, edit, and proof read pieces for accuracy. Very strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills. This position represents the University which, at times, requires handling confidential information and exercising sensitivity, diplomacy, and good judgement with people and situations. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement in setting priorities, organizing event-related details, and solving problems with the goal of accomplishing desired results. Have knowledge and ability to manage program operational budget and forecasting. Committed to providing world class hospitality with a positive, cooperative, servant’s heart.
