Accounts Payable Bookkeeper IV (1) One Positions

Fisheries Resource Management (FRM)

Department of Natural Resources

Hourly Wage: $16.53/Regular/Full-Time

This position is responsible for ensuring that all program debts to vendors and suppliers are paid accurately and on time. Work is moderately complex, demanding accuracy with numbers, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and must have accurate typing and knowledge in the Accounts Payable processes and associated computer software. Responsible for duties related to generating and processing purchase orders including the steps for payment processing, reconciliation of bills and statements. Must keep an accurate and organized filing system for all documents and keep tracking sheets up to date. Professionally communicates with all program accounting team members, other departments, and vendors to resolve any accounts payable issues that may arise. Maintaining strict confidentiality of work content is required.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Exercises independent judgement in processing and completing workload. Makes decisions based upon existing Yakama Nation policies and procedures.
  • Works independently and handles general work assignments with minimum supervision on a daily basis.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to analyze and process documents in a timely manner, efficient manner.
  • Generates requisitions for purchase order processing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 financial System.
  • Reconcile invoices and bills accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Runs open requisition and open purchase order reports; prepares correspondence or documents as needed to resolve or close out in a timely manner to prevent late payments.
  • Obtains check number, check date and documents them on the purchase orders for scanning and filing.
  • Maintains complex filing systems so all necessary documents/information, including pending payments and closed orders are accessible. Including the scanned filing system.
  • Writes routine communication and replies to all inquiries.
  • As requested, provides assurance and direction to temporary or new employees.
  • Operates standard office machinery and equipment as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics D365 System and/or the ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
  • Ability to apply own research, information gathering pertaining to potential vendors and purchases.
  • Ability to maintain accurate data and compose reports as necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task to ensure a steady and efficient flow of work.
  • Ability to perform typing, 10-Key and secretarial practices as required by the position.
  • Knowledge of overall process for items needing to be tagged.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate successfully and professionally with staff, other departments, and vendors.
  • Ability to work with the Tribal membership, general public in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Ability to operate office equipment associated with the position in a proper manner.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain internal controls and separation of duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of at least 1 year of professional accounting work experience or may substitute on a month-to-month basis, upon successful completion of coursework or training equivalent to position.
  • Associates degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Knowledge of preparing and processing accounts payable documents.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
