UC Davis Health is Hiring a Nurse Manager, Outpatient Surgery Clinic (AMBUL CARE PAT MGR 2) Near Sacramento, CA

Job Summary The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount. The Nurse Manager supports research, participates in both long- and short-term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the Practice Manager and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
  • Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. In addition, Master's degree required in nursing or other related field. If currently in a Master's degree program, must complete and graduate within three years.
  • Minimum of 2 years' of nursing management experience required
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
  • Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification of preferred field of practice
  • Nurse Executive Advanced Certification (NEA-BC)
  • 3 years of experience working in a surgical specialty clinic setting or equivalent experience.
Department Description
The Outpatient Surgery Clinic provides consultative, pre-operative and follow-up care for patients seen across eight surgical specialties, and possibly growing in the future. We provide outpatient support for the multidisciplinary Bariatric Center of Excellence program, which incorporates both surgical and non-surgical weight loss programs; the regional Burn and Trauma Centers in addition to Acute Care Surgery; patients of Colorectal Surgery; Patients of Hand Plastics and General Plastic Surgery; and Cardiac Surgery, including its VAD program. Services are provided at the C St UCDH Clinic, UCDH Cypress Building, and in the future at the UCDH 48X Building.
