General Scope and Purpose
This position is responsible for the operations and maintenance of cell sites. Cell technicians work closely with RF Engineering, Site Development, Network Switching, Telco Engineering, and Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel to ensure cells are on the air and operating correctly. Cell Technicians goals are to perform significant preventative maintenance in order to minimize corrective maintenance and cell “down time”.
Cell technicians are also involved in cell site acceptance. This may include coordinating with equipment vendors and various subcontractors involved in site installations and equipment additions. T1 acceptance testing and trouble isolation with local telephone company field employees and various control center personnel is critical.
Cell Technicians must be able to use various electronic digital test equipment such as GSM/CDMA test sets and antenna system sweep gear. Strong computer skills are necessary as technicians are required to monitor cell sites and perform remote trouble shooting. Must also maintain cell site records such as site logs, sweep / test printouts, preventative maintenance logs, trouble tickets, etc.
