Duties

As Deputy Director, you will be responsible for oversight of our Joint PED Operations Center (JPOC) program. This involves setting priorities and providing day-to-day oversight of the program; driving integration with the Office of Intelligence (OI), CBP's Regional Intelligence Centers (RICs), and partner federal agencies. We are looking for a leader who has demonstrated the ability to craft an inclusive vision; a mindset of seeing opportunities where others see roadblocks; a default approach of learning about and capitalizing on team members' unique strengths; strong emotional intelligence; respectfulness of others, regardless of their failings; transparency, with a bias towards over-sharing information; success in fostering a culture of individual autonomy and initiative; commitment to productive, intellectual conflict to improve the organization and its output; willingness to hold people and programs accountable for results; and commitment to speaking truth to power. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to lead one of CBP's most valuable missions-sharing information from partners to shape the national understanding of the threat environment.

Typical work assignments may include:

Develop Division operational and strategic objectives and assessments of program effectiveness in gathering, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence information on an interagency and intergovernmental basis.

Direct and coordinate intelligence collection operations of special purpose intelligence teams, CBP-wide, to produce actionable, strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence products with national and international implications.

Ensures prioritization of field efforts; and ensures alignment to CBP and partner priorities, risk analysis, information security, Privacy and Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, organizational design, and process flow.

Create flexible, practical, and fiscally responsible means to implement a program that accesses, receives, produces, and disseminates information and intelligence; and liaises with other Federal and non-Federal entities to integrate such information to identify indications, assess raw reporting and detect threats to the US Homeland.
