Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and providing administrative support to our healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and office procedures.
Duties:
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar
- Collect patient information and update electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Verify insurance coverage and assist with insurance claims processing
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate staff member
- Assist with medical administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed
- Assist with billing and payment processing
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical office administration is a plus
- Proven experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
