Colonial Behavioral Health is Hiring an Emergency Services Specialist Near Williamsburg, VA
Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.We are currently recruiting for a Emergency Services Specialist & Emergency Services Specialist- Complex Care Planner positions within our Emergency Services program. This position works with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder providing individuals with access to needed services and supports necessary to meeting basic needs.Job Responsibilities
Provides Emergency Services – assessment of acute crisis problems, risks, functioning and mental status; pre-admission screening; triage; and counseling supports.
Assists and/or develops the Emergency Services On-Call Schedule.
Provides managerial and team leadership - coaching, training and assistance to other clinicians in service provision of Emergency Services and Short-Term Crisis Counseling.
Other duties as assigned.
Standard Business Hours ranging from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. We are recruiting for multiple Full-Time positions. The hours for this position include days, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.
Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities in the assessment, evaluation and diagnosis of persons with mental illness, mental retardation and substance use disorders, including risk determination - danger to self or others, inability to care for self due to mental illness, imminent risk.
Ability to facilitate clinically appropriate response to persons in acute behavioral health crisis situations – assessment, Short Term Crisis Counseling, hospitalization, triage and referral, or other dispositions.
Knowledge and understanding of Discharge Protocols and the procedures for Continuity of Care between the CSB’s and State and private psychiatric facilitate, associated CBH policies and procedures, and Emergency Services procedures.
One year of clinical experience with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder required.
Valid driver’s license is required.
Bachelor's Degree in a human services field required.
Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP A/C) required.
Master’s Degree in a human services field preferred.
Resident in Counseling, Resident in Marriage & Family, Licensed Eligible preferred.
