Job Details Job Location Philadelphia, PA Education Level 4 Year Degree Travel Percentage None DescriptionPosition Summary:The Grant Writer is responsible for all aspects of grant activities in compliance with the organization and department goals and objectives. This includes developing and executing a comprehensive and aggressive program to generate grant support from existing sources and new opportunities via Feeding America, private/corporate foundations, federal and state programs, local municipalities, civic and religious groups, etc. The core responsibility of this role is to organize, communicate and manage grant activities. This role will research and submit proposals that support our strategic initiatives, steward donors, prepare Letters of Intent/Inquiry, and coordinate interdepartmental inputs. This is a multifaceted role that will challenge you to manage a full range of activities that are required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports. This role will involve a high level of confidentiality in knowledge and documentation. Primary Responsibilities
Manage full range of activities required to prepare and submit grant proposals and reports, including writing, editing, proofreading, and monitoring of grants life cycle.
Ensure database, correspondence and files are organized and current and ensure that all proposal submissions comply with stated requirements and guidelines.
Ensure that proposals and grant reports are submitted in a timely fashion, preferably in advance of deadlines.
Support and align with Philabundance cultural pillars. Ensure communications, actions and interactions reflect a focus on People, Professionalism, Partnerships, and Progress.
Additional Job Duties
Develop and cultivate contacts among grantors and potential funding sources.
Actively learn new things on own initiative and deliver options, tools, and solutions to the team.
QualificationsEducational Achievement
High School Diploma or GED a plus.
Additional formal education in Communications, Writing, Marketing or Social Services preferred.
Work Experience
Ideally, 1 year professional or some formal education experience using strong writing skills to influence, convey information and combine information from a variety of sources.
Experience working in a sales, customer service, marketing or other target audience-focused environment.
Experience working in a team environment where solutions, teamwork and collaboration were heavily utilized to meet a goal. This could be in a work, academic, volunteer or project environment.
Experience working with databases, creating and running reports, managing accurate input and managing data quality.
Experience working with a diverse workforce in a support role, ideally requiring administrative support.
Experience managing projects or activities with competing priorities.
Experience tracking projects or activities which include deadlines, collaboration, multiple contacts, and multiple locations.
Preferred
Experience with developing proposals for foundation, corporate and institutional donors.
Experience in a non-profit organization with an understanding of development activities and donor relationships.
Previous experience handling financial responsibilities, tracking cash and check flow, automated money systems with requirement to process with a sense of urgency and follow up.
