POSITION OVERVIEW

Primary function is to manage the machines that manufacture and repair metal structures, tools, and equipment for our Gate Plant facility. The production welder will plan layouts and measurements and test welded manufactured items.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate equipment to optimum efficiencies to meet quality, cost and operational requirements of daily schedules. 
• Weld small and large components to manufacture gates. 
• Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines performing the job. 
• Maintain and repair all machinery. 
• Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors. 
• Follow all company guidelines regarding manufactured product. 
• Evaluate manufacturing process and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Keep accurate and complete records of all products manufactured at Gate Plant facility. 
• Notify management of any production, safety, quality or environmental concerns with equipment, operation or facility. 
• Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes. 
• Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature. 
• Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. 
• Observe and follow all company safety standards. 
• Prompt and regular attendance is essential.
• Some overtime may be required.
• Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Preferred – Valid certificate in welding and/or minimum of 2 years’ welding experience.
• Required – High School Diploma or GED.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools. ?
• Understanding of the manufacturing processes. 
• Self-motivation to complete daily tasks and procedures.
• Thorough work ethic with a high attention to detail. 
• Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to follow directions and ability to work with little to no supervision.

Work Environment:

The job is performed both indoors and outdoors. Some activities may include extended periods of standing and/or work at a computer monitor.?

Work environment also includes but is not limited to exposure to weather, extreme cold/heat, noise, dust, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts and to electrical sources. PPE includes foot protection, eye protection, head protection, safety vest or highly reflective clothing, and hearing protection (only in areas where required).
