A school district in Michigan is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. This position involves working with students who have a range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. As a Special Education Teacher, you will design and deliver lessons geared towards the individual needs and capabilities of your students and play a critical role in helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific educational needs of each student.
  • Use various teaching techniques and tools, including technology, to enhance student learning and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and professionals to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adapting educational plans as necessary to promote effective learning.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing insight and updates on student progress and adjustments needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Valid Michigan teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the specific needs of students with disabilities and familiarity with applicable educational technology and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a team and adapt to the diverse needs of students.
