PURPOSE

Ensure compliance of philosophy, policies, procedures, and goals of the Clara Barton Hospital. Responsible to seek payment from patients with past due accounts

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for self-pay accounts
• Accountable for the supervision of the departments other self pay employees
• Determine why bills are not being paid by researching and solve payment discrepancies
• Process credit card payments and credits
• Review credit contract with patient and ensure proper pay agreement and keep current information
• Perform clerical duties, write letters to encourage payment, track and file correspondence
• Checks to ensure that all necessary information for proper billing recorded in patient files Talks to patients as necessary regarding account information
• Contacts patients in effort to collect submitted patient claims
• Makes adjustments to the computer classification of claims to most accurately reflect the expected pay source
• Meets monthly cash collection/AR day goals
• Attends annual in-services and updates staff development records accordingly
• Monitors bankruptcies, deceased, return of mail for CBH business office
• Ensures all necessary information documented and files
• Review accounts 120 days & over for possible turning to collection agency
• Monitor and posts collection agency payments
• Answer questions about collection accounts
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned
