City Tree Christian School serves as an outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church San Diego, dedicated to academic excellence integrated with the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the Bible. Children will excel academically, be good citizens, and know God when we provide educational experiences, needed care, and protection in a loving Christian environment.
Overview:
City Tree Christian School was founded in 1976 by members of First Presbyterian Church of San Diego. Beginning as a preschool, City Tree has grown to serve infants through 8th grade. City Tree is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and partnered with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
City Tree Christian School Teachers:
  • Are Christians dedicated and committed to the mission of First Presbyterian Church
  • Desire to serve the Lord Jesus Christ through the education of their students
  • Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness
  • Partner with administration, colleagues, and parents to create a school community for the benefit of all students
Position Summary:
  • Instruction of sixth through eighth grade in assigned subjects
  • Supervision of students during non-instruction times
  • Collaboration with administration and colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Plan, organize, and deliver stimulating instructional programs as outlined in the school's academic standards and Expected School-Wide Learning Results
  • Collaborate with colleagues on integrated academic units
  • Participate in hands-on student learning opportunities and trips outside the classroom
  • Support student leadership and service
  • Motivate and communicate with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and administration
  • Plan and participate in activities, programs, and learning experiences that complement and further the mission and vision of City Tree Christian School
Compensation:
  • Salaried full-time exempt position-salary will be commensurate with experience
  • Full medical insurance, including dental insurance
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university in the US
  • Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential
  • Classroom teaching experience (preferred)
  • Ability to integrate a love for Christ through daily instruction
