Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Wastewater/Stormwater Compliance Specialist to join our team. The Specialist will work on highly collaborative project teams assisting with water permitting, regulatory compliance, and related technical assignments for industrial clients throughout the United States.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Client communication and project management.
  • Being responsive to client needs.
  • Maintain quality relationships with client, regulators, and approval authorities
  • Work effectively with team members and clients.
  • Answering questions regarding wastewater and storm water permitting and regulatory compliance in various states across various industries.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable water and wastewater regulations, both current and proposed.
  • Preparation and review of wastewater and storm water permit applications.
  • Assessing permits for regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Reviewing and creating technical memoranda and reports.
  • Preparing scopes of work and cost estimates.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Well versed in environmental compliance program development and the regulation, enforcement, and permitting of diverse industries.
  • Strong in environmental policy with qualitative and quantitative research and report-writing skills.
  • Experience working with Environmental Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact daily and directly with clients and project teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to ensure that client needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Promote cooperation and teamwork among all Stantec members and offices.
  • Desire to stay ahead of emerging issues related to wastewater and stormwater policies.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Effective project management skills - successfully managing scope, schedule, and budget.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in environmental science/engineering or related field, with an emphasis in water resources or environmental engineering required.
  • 5 years' experience with wastewater and stormwater permitting.
  • Experience working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Standard office setting, with ability to sit for long periods of time, occasional use of stairs; regular use of computer and office equipment, lifting to 10 lbs. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
