Starting pay rate for this position is $23.28- $25.66 an hour per the 1386A Working Agreement. Aside from regular working hours, position may be eligible for overtime and on call.

The purposes of this position are to perform semi-skilled municipal maintenance and construction work and operate heavy trucks as required to complete work assignments. Included are assignments such as refuse collection, snow and ice control operations, street cleaning, other seasonal clearing and cleaning operations and maintenance, improving traffic and pedestrian access and sight distances; grounds maintenance, loading, transporting and implementing job and work safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. * Regularly operates varied GVW ten- and six-wheel dump and flatbed trucks or smaller with or without a trailer.
* Directs the work of semi-skilled and unskilled workers in routine maintenance and refuse collection activities, the replacing of containers in an acceptable manner and other duties as assigned.
* Assures a generally clean appearance of curb and roadsides during refuse collection operations. Assists with customer education in proper refuse disposal methods.
* Operates on an emergency and seasonal basis trucks and equipment for winter snow and ice removal and control and other seasonal clean-up operations.
* When not engaged in operating a truck, this position performs various semi-skilled tasks essential to public works and utility operations using a wide variety of power, pneumatic, and hand tools.
* Prepares, maintains, and performs job site and work safety practices.
* Is subject to call out to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants for this position must have graduated from high school or have earned a graduate equivalent diploma (GED). A strong knowledge of how to care for, operate and use heavy equipment effectively and efficiently and not less than three (3) years' experience in construction or maintenance work.
New hires must obtain before the end of their probationary period and incumbents must possess a valid commercial driver's license, class B and have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict any insurance carrier providing coverage to the City.
