**Starting Salary: $30.001 hourly || $2,400.08 biweekly || $62,402.08 annually**

The City of Lubbock will begin accepting applications for Police Officer (Probationary Police Officer) positions Wednesday, February 7, 2024 to April 29, 2024. The Police Officer (Probationary Police Officer) Entrance Exam will be given Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Lubbock Police Academy, 508 Davis Dr. in Reese Center at 8:30 AM. All applicants should plan to arrive at the testing location by 7:45 AM.

All applications for this exam must be completed online and received by the City of Lubbock Human Resources Department by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024. Interested candidates must apply online.

NOTE: WHEN COMPLETING THE ONLINE APPLICATION YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS: WORK HISTORY, CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES, SKILLS, AND REFERENCES.

All applicants who wish to receive Honorable Discharge Credit for service in the armed forces of the United States shall provide proof of an "Honorable Discharge" (i.e., DD Form 214 Service 2, DD Form 214 Member 4, or DD Form 214 Service 7). Any discharge, by whatever name known, that includes any language other than "Honorable Discharge" is not acceptable for Honorable Discharge Credit. This proof must be provided by 5:00 PM on April 29, 2024. You must attach proof to your application online titled "Your name and DD214", OR email it to Vera Perez at with "Your name and DD214" in the subject line.

Applicants must be at least 20 years and 6 months of age on the day of the Lubbock Police Entrance. IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS AFTER November 4, 2003, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR HIRE.
Applicants must pass the Police Officer (Probationary Police Officer) Entrance Exam before taking the Physical Ability Test. The Physical Ability Test will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, after the entrance examination.

The eligibility list created as a result of this examination will be effective from May 5, 2024 through November 5, 2024 unless exhausted before that date.

The physical fitness assessment for the Entrance exam into the Lubbock Police Academy is a TIMED 2000 meter row. The score for this assessment is set at 40%. The score is calculated and based off of the applicant's age, weight, and gender. There is NO set time for this assessment as each applicant is different. To calculate the time needed for YOU to achieve a score of at least 40%, please visit the listed link below. Again, the link will only provide an estimate and NOT an actual time needed to pass the assessment.
Open the link and click on the Fitness Wellness Unit tab on the bottom right hand corner of the page. You will then click on the Fitness Testing tab located on the right hand side of the page. Then click on the Concept 2 Rower test Calculator underneath the Fitness Testing. This will take you to the Concept 2 Rower calculator where you can input your information. You will want to input the 40% in the Desired Results area to determine your approximate time needed to pass the assessment.
