City Of Charleston is Hiring a Senior Accountant (Capital Projects) Near Charleston, SC

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the City of Charleston's Department of Budget, Finance, and Revenue Collections. In this role, you will apply generally accepted principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. 
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, equities, revenues and expenditures, and prepares balance sheets, income statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected City financial position for other managers.
  • Maintain funds and account groups and prepare them for internal and external audits.
  • Assist auditors in audit process and provides additional information requested.
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies for all assigned funds/accounts.
  • Compile information for grant and other reimbursements related to capital projects.
  • Record revenue and expenditures related to various capital projects.
  • Uses computerized accounting systems to maintain funds and prepare general ledger and accounting reports.
  • Participates in special projects when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in accounting or a related field and 2 two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
