JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing technical duties in the operation of a solid waste collection vehicle.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Operates automated refuse/recycling truck on an assigned route.
- Maintains all vehicle records and reports.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assists in the operation and maintenance of the Transfer Station and Recycling Center when needed.
- Responds to emergency call out situations as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the vehicles and equipment used in Solid Waste processes.
- Knowledge of city streets, geography and refuse/recycling routes.
- Knowledge of department, state, and federal safety regulations and guidelines.
- Skill in the operation of automated refuse/recycling trucks.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class B or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- One (1) year experience in Solid Waste and/or Recycling or related field operating Solid Waste and/or Recycling or similar vehicles and equipment.
Benefit package includes health, dental, and life insurance provided, retirement pension plan provided, paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, and more. The total compensation value for this position is $27.75 hourly/$57,712 yearly, which consists of the starting hourly rate plus the benefit package.
