Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Summary: The City of Billings, Parks and Recreation Department is seeking employees for seasonal Weed Abatement positions. The purpose of these positions is to trim lawns and weed patches on private property throughout the city where vegetation is neglected and landowners are non-compliant with mow directives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Must have completed High School or it’s equivalent. Past related employment experience is a plus, for example, job experience with mowers, weed whackers, tree maintenance and landscaping will be given preference.
Employment Period: 2024 summer season
Pay Rate: Starts at $17.50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include locating problem properties from maps, photos and addresses provided, documenting the treatment applied with dated, time-stamped before-and-after photographs, and then mowing and/or weed-whacking problem vegetation until the property is compliant with city vegetation codes. Occasionally you will be asked to assist the Forestry or Invasive Plant Control Technicians with duties such as tree, planting, watering, mulching, stump grinding or treating buckthorn or other invasive plants.
