JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant (MA) assists the physician and/or mid-level in the delivery of nursing care and patient education. The MA is required to interview patients, perform treatments, distribute medications, document medical records and coordinate care for a group of patients
As a caring professional, the clinic MA works closely with patients and must exhibit effective communication skills when dealing with them and their families. The MA must also communicate and work well with all providers, departmental personnel, and other health care professionals.
The MA will also be responsible for performing receptionist duties as needed to accommodate departmental needs.
Job Specific:
1)Prepare treatment room for patient examination
2)Verify treatment of correct patient
3)Interview patients, obtaining vital signs, such as pulse, blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and documenting information in the patient’s chart. (EF)
4)Prepare treatment room for patient examinations. (EF)
5)Operate office equipment and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests; also, coordinate scheduling for patients receiving tests outside the clinic. (EF)
6)Return patient phone calls, and call patients with test results. (EF)
7)Authorize prescription refills. (EF)
8)Ensure prior-authorizations are in place when applicable to patient’s visit and/or testing.
9)Complete all documentation associated with aforementioned responsibilities with in e-MD. (EF)
10)Keep all areas stocked and neat in appearance. (EF)
11)Maintains continuing education. (EF)
12)Greet patients professionally and politely at all times.
13)Answers and directs incoming phone calls to the appropriate staff professionally and politely, by identifying our organization and self.
14)Collect co-payment and/or payment on previous balances when applicable at time of service.
15)Obtain signed authorizations and consent forms at time of service.
16)Schedule patients accordingly for follow-up appointments and outpatient testing.
17)Process end of day close and documentation
18)Balance and complete deposit
