Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Southfield, MI

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000

Schedule: 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday

Kelly Services has recently partnered with a local accounting firm, seeking a permanent Senior Staff Accountant to join their team. In business for over 30 years, our client is a rapidly growing firm specializing in accounting and tax services. The ideal candidate will come with previous experience in the areas of full-cycle accounting, sales tax, property tax, and depreciations.

Duties:

· Perform full cycle accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.

· Manage depreciation schedules and calculations for fixed assets, ensuring accurate recording and reporting in accordance with accounting standards.

· Prepare and file property tax returns for clients, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and deadlines.

· Handle sales tax compliance, including preparation, filing, and reconciliation of sales tax returns for various jurisdictions.

· Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide insights and recommendations to clients.

· Collaborate with clients to address accounting inquiries, resolve issues, and provide financial guidance and support as needed.

· Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations, tax laws, and industry trends to ensure compliance and provide proactive recommendations to clients. 

Qualifications:

· Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.

· 3 years of experience in full cycle accounting, with proficiency in depreciation, property tax, sales tax, and financial reporting.

· Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.

· Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
