Christie Clinic is Hiring a Cert Podiatric Assistant/Nail Technician - Foot and Ankle - Part-Time - Temporary Near Champaign, IL

Christie Clinic's department of Foot and Ankle is seeking a part-time(24 hours/week), temporary(6/3/2024-7/26/2024) Certified Podiatric Assistant/Nail Technician from Monday-Wednesday 8:00am-5:00pm at the Fields clinic.
Duties include the performance of skills through the delivery of patient care using a systematic patient assessment as well as the performance of skills of executing proficient preventative foot and nail care. They have an in-depth-knowledge of the nail, the disorders of the nail, and skin.
Previous healthcare and nail trimming experience is preferred and a CPR and Podiatric Medical Assistant Certification or Wound Care Certificaton is required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 75 pounds.Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours. Nail technicians must adhere to highest standards of sanitation, which includes cleaning and sanitizing tools and equipment.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
  • Assist patients to exam room and help them onto exam chairs.
  • Collect clinical information.
  • Assist patients with removal of shoes, socks, support stockings, etc., as needed.
  • Remove sutures, splints, casts and dressings, as needed.
  • Apply splints, casts, cam-walkers, ace bandages, dressings, etc., as needed.
  • Administer injections, as directed.
  • Give injections to numb areas prior to procedures.
  • Prepare and assist with in office surgical procedures.
  • Cast for, dispense, and adjust Orthotics.
  • Demonstrate stretching and toning exercises.
  • Educate patients on using crutches.
  • Trim nails, calluses, warts, etc., as needed. Debride ulcers, as needed.
  • Clean and stock rooms daily and order supplies, as needed.
  • Measure for and dispense diabetic shoes, Crocs and Birkenstocks.
  • Call in prescriptions.
  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for tests, procedures and DME.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Return phone calls.
  • Travel to satellite clinics, as needed.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Enjoy a team environment and frequent interactions with both co-workers and patients.
  • Be customer-service orientated and friendly
  • Supply regular expert foot and nail practices
  • Executing proper work, cleaning properly, and also restock job environment as required.
  • Be flexible and cooperative with patients.
  • Problems solve patient's questions/complaints and forward to customer service if necessary.
  • Recording and updating patient records.
  • Be organized and tidy in a high energy level position.
  • Be well-groomed and professional-looking
  • Be prompt and on time.
