Jefferson Health is Hiring a Research Tech Intermediate (Lab of Dr. Anjali Mishra) Near Philadelphia, PA

The Research Technician in Dr. Anjali Mishra's lab, part of the Department of Medical Oncology, will undertake numerous duties such as physical exams, experimental procedures, surgeries, injections, euthanasia, IVIS imaging, and managing inventory. Additional duties involve mouse genotyping, as well as maintaining and expanding the mouse colony, including breeding. Basic mouse handling experience is required. This summary does not cover all job responsibilities. The technician will manage all project phases, from development to delivery, setting objectives, and strategizing approaches to assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for planning animal experiments and maintaining the mouse colony by assessing experimental needs.
  • To independently undertake research in testing therapeutics in mice using the appropriate methods and/or techniques.
  • To produce research reports and/or presentations of results obtained through experiments based on their analyses.
  • Collect, prepare and analyze research data; keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data; maintain computer database of research data; tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
  • To collaborate with research colleagues and support staff internally as appropriate to the research and to actively develop appropriate external contacts and networks relevant to the project and to future funding opportunities.
  • To help to assure the validity of research conducted by ensuring the operational condition of scientific equipment through maintenance, operating the equipment, and managing the use of the equipment.
  • To attend, contribute, and where necessary lead relevant meetings.
  • To ensure that responsibilities identified within internal processes such as Health and Safety guidelines etc. are robustly met by all research team members.
  • To remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contact with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required by the supervisor.
  • To take responsibility for planning and developing research methods and techniques within the framework of the research program.
  • To undertake any other duties relevant to the research program.
  • Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
  • A bachelor's degree in an Applied Science or an appropriate related field is required
  • One year of experience in a research lab environment
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned research projects is required

  • Experience of working in a research team environment
  • Experience of writing research reports, publications or other relevant outputs
