High school diploma or GED; some college coursework or experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred; one year of experience in the Human Services field; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of basic principles, practices and techniques related to support and care for individuals with intellectual disabilities; working knowledge of person-centered practices to support individuals with intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities; first aid and emergency techniques; support services. Ability to supervise individuals in a residential or community-based program setting; to provide direct care to individuals which involves demanding work including, but not limited to, heavy lifting, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods of time, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, and reaching overhead; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or a major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Sunday - Thursday; 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; includes some weekends
