Assistant Principals at DPS, provide leadership, support and guidance that is essential to their staff, students and faculty.

Shoemaker leaders must: Have experience teaching or leading in an Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) school or demonstrate evidence of aligned practices and beliefs including: Prioritizing culture and character development Project based learning and high quality work Service Learning Celebrate strengths and diverse student talents. Strive for continuous improvement, critically consume data and use it to elevate student achievement. Critically consume educational research to continually drive innovation and best practices Demonstrate a track record and commitment to building positive culture and personal relationships Desire to be a leader in the educational landscape and make positive contributions to the field. Support an apprenticeship model of teaching with a commitment to teacher preparation pipelines Have a minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience preferably in an Expeditionary Learning school.

What You'll Do:

• Lead high-quality, data driven instruction by building the capacity of teachers to lead and perfect their craft.
• Strategically align people, time and money to drive student achievement.
• Apply teacher and staff performance management systems in a way that ensures a culture of continuous improvement, support, and accountability.
• Actively advocate for members of the school community and effectively engages family and community.

What You'll Need:

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in education or in the subject areas for which you are applying. Master's Degree and Leadership Experience Preferred.
• Hold a valid Colorado Department of Education Principal License (Must be current and active while in the position). Click here for more information.
• 2 years of school leadership experience.
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
• Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
