Chaminade College Preparatory is Hiring a Summer Camp Teacher Near CHATSWORTH, CA

THE POSITION

The Summer Camp Teacher is directly accountable to the Site Director and to the Center for Excellence Director. Under the direction of the Sit Director and the Center for Excellence Director, is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and support to the Chaminade Center for Excellence Summer Program while ensuring the overall well-being and safety of the campers and the activities in the program.

Position Summary

Camp teacher responsibilities:

  • Develops innovative, creative, and fun programming with clear goals that are adaptable and adjustable based on needs of children each week.
  • Collaborates with summer camp teachers to plan, develop, facilitate, and lead a variety of activities and games for a specific age group each week.
  • Manage and fully supervise campers, Camp Counselors, and all activities.
  • Be responsible in assisting counselors with disciplinary issues when needed. Model and enforce appropriate positive discipline techniques as established by the policies of the Center for Excellence
  • Responsible to communicate with parents when needed.
  • Become knowledgeable in camp information and procedures.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for campers and staff
  • Works with the Site Director to secure substitutes in the event of illness or other emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communication with all levels including staff and parents.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions that adhere to the purpose, mission and goals of the Chaminade Center for Excellence.
  • Ability to relate to children and develop professional, positive relationships with youth.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as a role model and take initiative to identify potential risk factors and take measures to reduce them.

Salary

This is a nonexempt position and the base hourly wage range will be $23.00 to $25.00 per hour based upon previous relevant experience.
