Title: Backup System Admin Level IV

This role will directly support the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations (NCO) division for the compute, storage, and networking within the data centers that support the Integrated Dissemination Program (IDP) and Compute Farms (CFs). This partnership will allow the Government to concentrate on its core missions, while also leveraging private sector expertise to manage state-of-the-art data center infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities: 

Linux Administrative activities include:

•Maintaining a stable Backup/restore environment

•Patch backup servers monthly or on as needed basis for vulnerabilities

•Proficient in VMWare Esxi infrastructure and knowledge on various backup methodologies available

•Must be able to work independently to provide input and recommendations into the design phase and successfully execute requirements.

•Must excel at troubleshooting complex problems to resolution.

•Must be able to configure and install Enterprise backup solutions and manage clients running the backup software.

•Ability to do snapshot, full and incremental backups

•Suggest newer backup technologies to move away from tape backups

Job Requirements: 

•8 – 12 years of experience with planning, designing, and installing Enterprise backup solutions

•Should have expert level knowledge on Spectralogic tape drives and CommVault COTS 

•VMWare ESXi
