Central Rivers Area Education Agency (AEA) works as a partner to provide services to Iowa public school districts and accredited, nonpublic schools in an 18-county region of north central Iowa. Our goal is to improve the learning outcomes and well-being of all children and youth by employing specialists that most individual school districts could not employ on their own. Special Education services comprise about 80 percent of the AEA budget and includes: Academic Consultants Behavior Consultants Audiologists Occupational Therapists Physical Therapists School Psychologists School Social Workers... Speech Language Pathologists Educational Services include consulting staff in the areas of: Literacy Math Professional Development Science Teacher Leadership & Compensation Instructional Technology Talented & Gifted Media services include: Library Media Specialists Creative Services staff (including printers, graphic designers, digital communication specialists, and school public relations) Technology specialists Central Rivers AEA also provides special education instruction at correctional facilities, youth shelter care classrooms, juvenile homes and other special schools.
