Education and Experience:
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Must have at least one (1) cumulative year of receiving mental health services for a disorder that is treated in the target population for Texas
- Must have valid TX driver's license and be insurable
Job Purpose:
- Will provide peer support services to clients with serious mental illnesses.
- Will function as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills
- Serves as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for clients in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Must maintain Peer Specialist certification
Job Function:
- Assist consumers of mental health services in the area of community integration
- Participate in Certified Peer Specialist training and receive certification
- Will advocate for mental health consumers and assist them in self-advocacy
- Complete Health Risk Assessments with consumers of mental health services
- Provide Whole Health support groups to comsumers of mental health services
- Adheres to all Center policy anf procedures
