Central City Concern is an innovative nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services to single adults and families in the Portland metro area who are impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions. We hire people that are skilled and passionate to meet our mission to end homelessness through outcome-based strategies which support personal and community transformation.
Summary: The Program Janitor I ensure their assigned location is cleaned and maintained daily. The Hooper DSC is a designated facility offering medical services, and the highest standard of cleanliness is expected. It is the duty of the Program Janitor 1 to ensure this facility is kept up to established standards.

Location : Hooper Detox Stabilization Center, 1535 N Williams Ave, Portland, OR 97227
Hourly wage : $19.01
Schedule : Saturday - Wednesday, 5:30am - 2:00pm
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have at least six months of experience in interior and exterior janitorial cleaning.
  • Must have at least three months of experience identifying bed bugs, rodents, and insects.
  • Must have experience in floor care - stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning.
  • Must be trained or able to be trained to maintain and operate the trash compactor system.
  • Must be able to use a ladder safely in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Must be trained or be able to be trained in bio-hazard cleanup.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform duties.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, and lift heavy objects and climb stairs.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace, which encourages a safe, healthy, and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Work Place Act of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess, or use a controlled substance or alcohol.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. Certain convictions may disqualify you for this position according to the program restrictions and contractual obligations.
  • May be required to carry an agency cell phone for work use.Central City Concern will provide a cell phone.

  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Clean lobbies, hallways, unoccupied offices, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean windows, floors, countertops, elevators, appliances, and fixtures.
  • Sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, washing, disinfecting, and polishing.
  • Clean sidewalks and other outside public areas as directed.
  • Polish floors, clean carpets, and pressure wash exterior surfaces.
  • Have the ability to identify pests such as roaches, bed bugs, ants, and rodents.
  • Perform follow-up clean-up after pest sprays, including vacuuming of pests and disposal of bed bug-infested property.
  • Maintain and operate trash chute and compactor.
  • Maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Order and receive supplies and equipment.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners' and outside providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.
  • Gather, edit, and refine program boilerplates and impact data. Help to keep files organized and updated.
  • Adhere to all CCC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform related duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience using cleaning agents such as soap, polish, disinfectants, etc.
  • Experience operating various cleaning equipment, i.e., extractors, buffers, power washers, vacuums, and steam cleaners.
  • Experience recognizing, identifying, and removing pests like roaches and bed bugs.
  • Ability to learn applicable safety policies and procedures, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and the ability to apply workplace and job-site safety standards.
  • Experience and knowledge of proper chemical usage and application of chemicals specific to pest control and bio-hazard clean-ups.
  • Ability to identify bio-hazard situations and clean according to OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, lift, and carry 10 to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to do overhead work.
  • Ability to interact courteously with the general public on the telephone or in person.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written and oral instruction.
  • Ability to work in all adverse weather conditions including but not limited to rain, wind, heat, cold, snow, and ice.
