Job Title: Commercial Banking Relationship Mgr
Reports To: Commercial Banking Manager
Supervises: None
Division: Commercial

Pay Rate: Salary
Position Purpose: The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager (CBRM) is responsible for the acquisition of new commercial banking clients as well as the expansion and retention of existing commercial relationships. The CBRM will help structure, underwrite, negotiate, and manage low-to-moderately complex credit relationships. Additionally, the CBRM is responsible for developing and executing relationship management plans for high value clients.
Job Requirements
Education: A 4-year degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a 4-year degree.
Experience: At least 2-4 (two to four) years of experience in commercial credit/commercial banking is required, including developing, structuring, and underwriting credit transactions.
Skills: Effective organizational and time management skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; analytical thinking skills; ability to type at least 50 wpm; proficiency with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; fluency in the English language; ability to create professional-level written presentations and client communications; ability to travel between Bank and client locations as needed.

Relationship Management Expectations

  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with client service team, product team and senior management to ensure an excellent client experience.

  • Understand and address key relationship stakeholders and key buying influences.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial relationships.
Business Development Expectations
  • Maintain and grow a profitable book of business through disciplined and initiative-taking business development and relationship management.
  • Be highly focused on our target client profile; understand their financial needs and effectively communicate our value proposition.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Bank products and services, including deposit, treasury, and merchant banking solutions.
  • Analyze the needs of clients and prospects to effectively recommend appropriate products or services.
  • Attain established Bank portfolio growth, deposit, and loan production goals through active participation in sales management process.
  • Participate in community events and networking activities to increase awareness and presence of Community State Bank.
Underwriting Expectations
  • Effectively identify key risk factors associated with business opportunities and clearly articulate a thorough credit recommendation.
  • Accurately prepare credit presentations and participate in the underwriting and credit approval process.
  • Structure, underwrite, and obtain credit approval, negotiate terms, and effectively document credit actions and agreements.
  • Ensure that all loans are documented completely, and that any documentation or loan policy exceptions are addressed and resolved.
Portfolio Management Expectations
  • Be accountable for overall portfolio management, compliance, and risk.
  • Monitor direct and operating exposures of portfolio to ensure actual performance is consistent with approved limits and loan structures—and consistent with the understanding or expectations that informed our credit approval.
  • Initiate timely changes to risk ratings to reflect changes in conditions that impact on our customers and the Bank’s risk exposure, including regulatory compliance.
  • Complete accurate and timely credit actions, including periodic reviews, renewals, and modifications.
  • Ensure that borrower reporting requirements and financial covenants are met.
  • Work in close partnership with credit administration.
Compliance/Other Expectations
  • Be fully trained and knowledgeable in all compliance related areas of CSB including, but not limited to: BSA, OFAC, etc.
  • Deliver products in compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
  • Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting.
  • Occasional standing and walking.
  • Frequent repetitive motions that include the hands and/or fingers.
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, and printer.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
  • Constant written and verbal communication with others to exchange information.
  • Constant state of awake and alertness.
  • Frequent need to speak to groups of people.
  • Constant ability to report in-person regularly and consistently at job site.
  • Constant ability to distinguish colors and clearly view close up written materials.
  • Constant exposure to moderate background noise (keyboards, telephones, printers, talking, etc.).
  • Occasional need to travel to other bank locations or various types of client business locations.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather for short periods of time.
