The Role:

Our client is hiring a Principal Linux Platform Engineer to enhance our team in Atlanta. This role will be focused on the development of Linux distribution for high-performance, low-latency applications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Linux in a high-performance environment and providing world class engineering support.

Main Responsibilities

-Maintain a Linux distribution for real-time, high-performance applications for use on instruments and in the cloud

-Verify/select the available upgrades, including thorough testing, before delivery, with the goal of a stable and high-quality platform

-Troubleshooting of system and kernel issues

-Manage the backlog and prioritization of requirements, enhancements and bug fixes from partners

-Generate releases of the Linux OS platform conforming to licensing and security standards

-Provide real-time Linux performance monitoring tools for internal developers, including:

-monitor runtime processor performance counters

-monitor/diagnostic of system and HW resources

Requirements

-Requires a Bachelors or Masters Degree or University Degree or equivalent and 8 year’s relevant experience for entry to this level. 

-Solid knowledge of C or C

-Experience in real-time operating system

-Deep knowledge of Linux OS

-Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking stack

-5 years of working experience in R&D teams in the Software Development area

-Authoring cloud native software in Docker, Kubernetes environment

-Preferred experience work with deployment in one of the major cloud environments
