Visit www.cdc.gov Responsibilities As a Public Health Analyst (Policy & Issues Management) you will: Develop projects to identify, review, and analyze complex and highly visible actions such as public health legislation, executive directives, departmental policy issuances, voluntary changes in practice by influential organizations or groups, as well as other problems, issues, or program requirements that may be unstable or complex and that have the potential to impact public health as well as the activities of the division, center, and/or coordinating center Cultivate and maintain relationships with other organizational units within the agency including other national centers, and offices within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of the Director, CDC Washington, FMO/Leg, and others; other Federal agencies and quasi-governmental groups such as the CDC Foundation; and other key partners including national and international organizations. Develop new public health programmatic initiatives and assess issues of importance to the mission and activities of the program. Oversee a variety of program development activities for the organization. Respond to Congressional/Executive Branch inquiries and correspondence requesting information regarding CDC strategies, programs, and responses to health problems; data; and general information requested about health problems. Develop materials to explain programs to the general public and to specific groups including Congressional staff, legislative committees and subcommittees, state policy makers, Departmental and other executive branch officials, and other groups interested in specific program activities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ: US Citizenship is required. Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov). May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation. Qualifications All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience in assisting with public health policy planning, partnerships, and/or policy analysis activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
