HTI is Hiring a Sr. Project Engineer (Industrial Construction) Near Augusta, GA

HTI is recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer with extensive experience in industrial/manufacturing plant construction and commissioning projects . This is a direct-hire, full-time, salaried, onsite role with a new manufacturing facility in Augusta, GA. Relocation assistance is available. Salary depends on education and experience, and the range is approximately $130,000 - $150,000 / year.

The Senior Project Engineer will serve as an integral part of the plant construction and commissioning project team. The facility is currently under construction and will be commissioned later this year, with multiple additional construction/expansion phases scheduled for the future. The Senior Project Engineer will assist with the overall project execution by serving as the main Point of Contact for the other project teams, the project managers, construction/engineering vendors, and other stakeholders for all engineering and plant design functions. This person will ensure the efficient flow of project information and design changes through effective communication with all parties. They will also support the project Engineering team with discipline expertise, design/review tasks, and technical evaluation of Project Change Directives. The Senior Project Engineer reports to the Engineering Director; this role has no direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall ownership of the assigned project scope, serving as a single Point of Contact for internal project teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support the awarding process for construction, engineering/design, and machinery installation vendor contracts.
  • Full Scope of Work creation/changes covering all aspects, including HSE, Construction, PMO, Engineering, etc.
  • Definition of technical vendor selection criteria and technical bid evaluation process; support project Procurement team in bidding process, and vendor evaluation/selection.
  • Support project Construction team, ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is practical and cost effective.
  • Support the project Engineering team with discipline expertise, design/review tasks, technical evaluation of Project Change Directives, SOW creation, technical bid evaluation, and taking care of specific engineering queries.
  • Responsible for coordination between the Engineering team (including the Design Manager), engineering firms, the project team, and contractors to ensure that drawing packages are delivered to the field in time to meet the schedule.
  • Collaborate with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the design meets all regulatory and safety requirements and is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to the design team as required.
  • Support managing the resolution of any design-related issues that arise during the project, including changes to the design, scope, or budget.
  • Single Point of Contact for Procurement for assigned scope.
  • Support engineering/design Interface Management, ensuring that the various battery limits of units and design packages fully cover scope and no gaps in Construction and communication occur.

Requirements:

  • 8 years of industrial/manufacturing plant construction experience.
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering (or related Engineering field).
  • Industrial engineering design knowledge with ability to read blueprints and review designs and drawings; must have some familiarity with AutoCad or similar software.
  • Must have intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook, and Excel (pivot table and V-lookup preferred).
  • Experience with project management software (MS Project, Aconex, or Navisworks).
  • Ability to review and edit PDFs in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience managing projects/teams and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and external engineering consultants/vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial engineering design and construction practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or other similar (CESCP, CPSE) is preferred.
  • Experience with major mechanical equipment included in smelting process preferred.
