Salary for Announcement

The minimum of the pay range for this position is $57,600. We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $65,000 - $75,000. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment, the Associate Director of Admission, Communications and Events primary responsibility is to develop and execute an integrated marketing plan for undergraduate enrollment in close collaboration with the University Communications and Marketing (UCM) department. This position manages the use of various channels to amplify national awareness of Metropolitan State University of Denver's (MSU Denver) signature educational experience of meeting students where they are and enhancing its role of providing an affordable and transformative education, through electronic, web, print communications and social media channels. In addition, this position will manage four team members who are responsible for assisting with communications and marketing as well as special events for prospective students and other influencers to demonstrate MSU Denver's brand in action.

Candidates should possess strong writing and creative skills, an understanding of data analytics, teamwork competencies, experience effectively using communications tools and a comprehensive understanding of the enrollment funnel.

The successful candidate will be a detailed-oriented individual with strong time management skills and be flexible, have experience adapting to rapid changes while staying informed on the latest admissions trends in strategic student search, Slate enhancements, as well as the ever-evolving best practices and ethics of the admissions and enrollment procession.

Duties/Responsibilities

35% - Create both strategic and transactional messaging to drive applications, admits, and ultimately enrollment. Monitor and test messaging for effectiveness and recommend changes to strategy to produce improved results throughout the recruiting cycle. Utilizes communication data such as open rates, click-through rates, subject line performance and A/B testing to determine effectiveness of campaigns. Research and execute best practices for differentiating messages for various target populations (traditional, readmit, international, nontraditional, underrepresented minorities, transfer students). Design, test, send and assess communications using the University customer relationship management (CRM) software application, Slate. Builds and maintains a calendar of communications and informs the office of upcoming and delivered communications. Responsible for managing the budget for communications-related expenses.

30% - Supervise and manage Communication & Events team to deliver special events and execute all communications from the Office of Admissions. Lead the team that plans and delivers special events including (but not limited to) open houses, admitted student days, admission summits, leadership team retreats, school counselor events, and coordinates our student ambassadors. This team also recruits and coordinates community participation (faculty, staff, and students) and works with third party vendors, to deliver a unique experience that will clearly demonstrate the value of anMSUDenver education. Responsible for managing the special events budget.

20% - Works with University Communications and Marketing (UCM) and external enrollment consulting firms to develop, maintain and implement a robust, multi-channel marketing and communications calendar for target audiences. Manages communications flow and fulfillment for all print and electronic materials, ensuring timely delivery of information to prospective, applicants, and new admits students. Serves as primary Admissions contact with theUCMoffice and external enrollment consulting firms, working closely with the University's brand marketing and creative team in development of publications, print and digital collateral ads. Assists with the development and posting of engaging content on social media channels.

10% - In collaboration withUCM, manages and updates admissions website content using the University's content management system. Serves as a brand steward, ensuring that the University's identity elements are used correctly in admissions communication, publications and marketing materials.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Experience working in an admissions office or in a higher education setting
  • Experience with marketing and/or communications experience which may include: Developing, writing, editing, managing, and executing digital and direct marketing/communications campaigns
  • Working with creative teams, including copywriters, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers as well as managing the print production process and specifications for large scale design projects
  • Experience coordinating campus visits and executing events
  • One year of experience supervising professional staff
  • Experience using a Web content management system to update and maintain websites
  • Experience with a customer relationship management system (CRM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or a closely related field
  • Experience with Slate customer relationship management system (CRM)
  • Graphic design experience with editorial design (i.e. printed publications), corporate design (logos and branding), advertising, web design, and/or communication design
  • Four years' experience supervising professional staff

Work Hours

  • 40 hours per week,
  • Hybrid schedule (on-campus and remote) available for this position.
