Job Summary :
The Grants Accountant is responsible for financial management of a portfolio of grants and contracts. These grants will advance population health goals as well as improve the services in which Cayuga Health provides in order to better achieve these goals. This position serves as a liaison between Cayuga Health Partners' Grants Team, project staff, and the finance department. Therefore, this role requires commitment to cross-functional collaboration within the organization. The ideal candidate will have accounting experience and knowledge of grant auditing and reporting practices.
What you'll do:
  • Assist with submission of financial information required in grant applications
  • Lead the approval of expenses prior to their entry into the financial management system
  • Prepare grant and contract vouchers to request reimbursement of eligible expenses according to the approved budget and in compliance with grant criteria
  • Ensure that grants are within budget and that expenses are charged to appropriate cost centers
  • Assist with monitoring spending against grants to ensure annual targets are met
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with granting organization's regulations and requirements, including reporting protocols, reporting templates, approval policies and procedures, and award close-out procedures
  • Respond to all grant deadlines and audits
  • Assists with other CHS projects as needed based on availability
  • Other appropriate responsibilities not noted above
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - Bachelor's degree in an accounting, business, healthcare administration, nonprofit administration, or related field. Master's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience - At least 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a medical or community health setting.
Ability to work independently, be part of cross-functional teams, and be self-motivated to set priorities and manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality. Demonstrated interest in the mission, vision and values of Cayuga Health System.
This position can be 90% remote, with an estimated 10% of time necessary for in-person meetings.
