Catholics For Choice is Hiring a Global Advocacy and Consulting Intern Near Washington, DC

Background:
Catholics for Choice (CFC) was founded in 1973 to shape and advance sexual and reproductive ethics based on justice, reflect a commitment to a person's well-being, and affirm the capacity of all people to make moral decisions about their lives.
General Summary:
CFC seeks a motivated intern for the Global Advocacy and Consulting Department. As part of the international programs team, the intern will support the director and other staff in achieving annual goals aligned with CFC's mission to advance international policies that respect reproductive rights. The intern will work under the program director to educate partners, policymakers, and the public about Catholic support for women's autonomy in reproductive health decisions and help build a stronger community of advocates worldwide.
Projects will include:
  • Research supporting amicus brief drafting
  • Supporting engagement with partners in Nicaragua and El Salvador
  • International Conference Research
The Catholics for Choice Internship program will run from around June 4 to August 16, 2024.
Catholics for Choice is looking for individuals who are passionate about our mission. Please familiarize yourself with our messaging and programs before applying. If you do not fully support the pro-choice movement, this role is not suitable for you. We welcome applicants from different religions and secular backgrounds to apply, as we are all affected by the Catholic hierarchy's religious overreach. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
This job can be located in Washington, D.C., and will follow a hybrid model, with two days in the office and three days working from home. Alternatively, this job can be fully remote if you reside in one of the following jurisdictions: North Carolina, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, or Puerto Rico.
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience (e.g., academic projects, volunteer work) in advocacy projects, program development, or program management in international and/or multi-cultural settings.
  • Strong Spanish language skills are highly desirable.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously across different timelines and time zones.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with database or contact management software.
  • Excellent written and oral business communication skills in English.
  • The ability to work effectively with US and international colleagues, demonstrating flexibility, discretion, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Commitment to progressive public policy, a woman's right to choose, and the mission of CFC.
Compensation:
  • The position offers a pay rate of $17.50 per hour and is eligible for overtime.
  • 40 hours of Paid Time Off (in addition to paid company holidays falling during the internship program).
  • Paid Half-day Fridays.
