Data Center Technician w/ Lab Experience

Engineering/Technical Operations

Location - On-site in Santa Clara, CA

This is a 6-month contract position initially for 6 months with the potential for extension.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing our client's next-generation data center equipment. In this hands-on role, you will work directly in the lab environment to evaluate prototype hardware, identify issues, implement solutions, and ensure optimal performance.

Your expertise in data center infrastructure and equipment will be invaluable as you collaborate with the engineering teams. You will have the opportunity to work with truly state-of-the-art technology that pushes the limits of what's possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

Debug and troubleshoot issues with server hardware

Build servers and desktop systems from components

Rack, stack, configure, and repair data center systems

Perform board-level debugging using oscilloscopes and other tools

Install and troubleshoot Linux operating systems

Run network cabling for data center equipment

Provide lab support including inventory management

Devise creative solutions to novel technical challenges

Document findings and test results

Required Experience/Skills

Minimum 5 years of experience supporting large-scale data center infrastructure

Expertise in data center power, cooling, racking, and equipment

Able to solder, fix, and test data center components

Proficiency with basic Linux commands and OS installation

Strong troubleshooting skills for server hardware and systems

Experience building servers/desktops from components

Familiarity with network cabling for data centers

Lab experience performing board-level debugging

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with liquid cooling systems

Prior work supporting hardware prototypes

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field preferred..
