Description

POSITION: Associate Program Therapist/Intern

SITE: Residential Services

REPORTS TO: Clinical Program Manager

GENERAL FUNCTION: This position is responsible for providing appropriate clinical services to youth ages 12-17, including nonminor dependents, and their children in a licensed residential treatment setting. Must provide individual, group, family, and milieu therapy and oversight of the Case Manager paired on resident case load. Must provide information, consultation, advocacy, and collaborative treatment planning within the agency and in cooperation with other agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which typically includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.

· Master degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy leading to licensure as a LCSW or MFT.

· Must be a California Registered Intern. BBS Number required.

· Knowledge of developmental needs of children ages 0-18 years throughout the developmental stages.

· Must possess strong interpersonal, time-management, organizational, written/verbal communication skills, and intermediate computer literacy. English proficient/Bilingual Spanish preferred. Must have ambulatory, auditory and visual skills to observe residents and staff.

· Must have the physical ability to participate in activities and perform related physical skills, including, but not limited to, crouching, lifting 50 pounds, crawling on hands and knees, and walking up and down stairs.

· Ability to comply with all employment requirements including, but not limited to CPR/Pediatric 1st Aid, physical, TB and drug screen clearance, clear DMV record and approval from insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles. Must provide proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles.

· Must be at least 21 years of age.

MAJOR TASKS:

1. Provide comprehensive therapeutic services such as administering assessments and completing Needs and Service Plans, Client Plans, De-escalation and Safety Management Plans, progress notes, transition documents.

2. Supervise and provide routine supervision for Case Manager paired on resident case load.

3. Maintain all clinical charts including: Community Care Licensing forms, documentation of outside mental health treatment, psychiatric notes, psychological evaluations, contact sheets and transition dispositions.

4. Pursue and provide individual, group, and family therapy and parent education, as appropriate.

5. Assess client’s needs, strengths, and level of functioning; establish a current psychosocial and needs assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan.

6. Complete required county and Casa de Amparo documentation including but not limited to resident education information, Personal Contact Authorization, and Early Head Start documentation.

7. Complete transition disposition and send to appropriate staff.

8. Provide therapy Groups and facilitate Community Meetings.

9. Participate in weekly Treatment Team meetings and appropriate Child and Family Team meetings.

10. Provide therapeutic services that are knowledgeable and respectful of differing cultures and the norms that exist within various cultures.

11. Consult with Clinical Coordinator and Consulting Psychiatrist regarding assessment and treatment.

12. Consult with clients’ outside psychotherapist, physician, etc., as needed.

13. Establish and maintain consistent contact with client’s Placing Agency Representative, authorized representative, HHSA social worker regarding client’s progress, placement planning, medical needs, and outside services. Provide advocacy and disposition recommendations.

14. Assist Consulting Psychiatrist in writing clinical reports for psychiatric and psychological assessments. Use assessments to provide advocacy and plan treatment.

15. Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision.

16. Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.

17. Observe resident’s activities and interactions daily, interact with clients multiple times per week, and regularly review daily progress notes.

18. Assist with crisis assessment and behavioral interventions to support milieu activities, education, and extracurricular involvement.

19. Transport residents to appointments using agency and/or personal vehicle, a needed.

20. Provide clinical services, prioritizing tasks to accommodate daily needs of residents.

21. Perform other tasks as assigned.

EFFECT ON END RESULT: This position assures that therapeutic and specialty mental health services and case management are provided in a trauma-informed and culturally respectful manner to support the care, treatment, and services of residents and their child/ren in Residential Services.
