Job Description Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. The Deputy, Electronic Systems Operations is responsible for working closely with the Vice President, Operations to lead and provide vision to the nearly 5,000-employee Operations function for the Electronic Systems business segment at BAE Systems, Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the function's strategy and operations across multiple facilities, geographies, technologies, cost account segments, and business models. You will be accountable for partnering across the Operations leadership team to achieve targeted growth objectives and optimize utilization of people and equipment. This role will report directly to the Vice President, Operations of Electronic Systems. This position is a hybrid role based at one of our major Electronic Systems manufacturing locations: Nashua, NH (and surrounding area); Cedar Rapids, IA; Austin, TX; Fort Wayne, IN. Primary Responsibilities:
* Serve as a member of the Electronic Systems Operations leadership team, actively partnering with other leadership team members to set strategic direction and drive innovative and consistent manufacturing strategies across all of Electronic Systems.
* Understand and appreciate business objectives and be committed to partnering with business leaders to create a 'best for the enterprise' service delivery approach.
* Develop and deploy an operations framework to deliver synergy across the portfolio.
* Lead the development of the five-year business planning process for the Operations function, identifying growth strategies, investment requirements, operational improvements, and staffing plans. * Consistently deliver predictable financial results that meet or exceed current year operating plan and partner with Finance to monitor and control investment spend.
* Measure and regularly report out on strategies, plans, activities, and results to senior leadership.
* Demonstrate highly visible leadership to all levels of the Operations function, with excellent affinity to the production floor. Lead by example, fostering innovative problem solving, performance excellence, and continuous improvement to deliver affordable, effective, and dependable solutions.
* Attract, develop, and retain high-performing, diverse talent; build future leaders through development, mentoring, and modeling excellence. Provide holistic leadership, promote a positive culture, and ensure an environment of collaboration, inclusivity, and respect in alignment with the company's behaviors and cultural principles.
* Ensure that business is conducted with the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.
* **Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status**#LI-JD1 Required Education, Experience, & Skills * Typically a Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline and a minimum of 15 years of experience with electronic systems manufacturing processes and systems. * Minimum LSS Green Belt.
* Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. BAE Systems, Inc. will not offer sponsorship for this position.
* This role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills * Experience leading a complex manufacturing business with revenues of at least $500M across multiple sites.
* Expertise utilizing "lean" principles and a track record of success in developing significant improvements in cost management, inventory management, quality, and delivery.
* Experience establishing a vision, gaining cross-organizational support for that vision, and implementing that vision and facilitating change in a logical, methodical manner.
* Ability to marshal resources to get things done, orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, and use resources effectively and efficiently. Proven skills partnering across the business and the ability to collaborate within and across organizational boundaries. * Experience with large scale MES or other enterprise software for enhancing global process.
* Executive level communication skills with experience presenting complex information to senior leaders.
* Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to negotiate win-win solutions at a high level with internal and external customers and partners in a timely and decisive manner. * Exhibits a high degree of technical credibility and communicates highly technical information in a simplistic and easily understandable way. Analytical skills to draw appropriate conclusions from data, anticipating second and third order effects when making recommendations.
* Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to achieve results through others and a focus on holistic leadership. * Previous experience working for a government defense contractor.
* MBA or MS degree. * Black Belt certification from ASQ.
