WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Senior Vice President, International Services/Service to the Armed Forces provides executive leadership to the overall organizational direction, strategy, development and implementation process of key mission deliverables involving departmental or cross-functional teams. The Senior VP, International Services (IS)/Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) plans and directs schedules and monitor budget/spending and also monitors the project/program from initiation through delivery. The Senior VP IS/SAF organizes interdepartmental activities ensuring completion on schedule and within budget constraints. The Senior VP IS/SAF selects, develops and evaluates personnel and provides support, development and/or leadership guidance to all staff and volunteers.

This is a remote position where the preferred candidate can reside anywhere in the United States. Travel: 25% for in-person meetings and to deploy as needed.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Determine departmental strategies and priorities that support organizational goals and objectives. Ensure appropriate implementation and execution of specific strategies.

  • Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders including government officials and other senior executives to build partnerships in order to leverage resources for greater mission and programmatic impact. Represent organization at internal and external events/meetings as appropriate.

  • Develop and oversee management of departmental budget; and provide direction to senior managers on the overall human resources responsibilities and activities of one or more functional areas, divisions, groups or service areas through senior managers who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas.

  • Develop business unit policies and authorize their implementation.

  • Ensure consistent delivery of established programs, quality and growth of programs and the integration with other business units or organizational programs. Review to ensure progress is being accomplished towards overall objectives. Make change recommendations based on business needs and modify methodology as required to obtain objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with appropriate organization policies and applicable rules and regulations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Master's degree in business required.

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of related experience in government, NGO, military or humanitarian organizations or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

  • Management Experience: 15 years of management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-cultural/international environments.

  • Must have the ability to develop strategies, prioritize and implement initiatives effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff to accomplish objectives in a difficult and rapidly changing environment.

  • Experience building and deepening relationships with partners and donors.

  • KEY COMPETENCIES: Data Analysis/Metrics, Business Acumen, Dealing with Ambiguity, Organizational Savvy, Intellectual Curiosity, Building Effective Relationships, Communications, Teamwork.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience and comfort working in a highly matrixed organization with strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills and an ability to navigateand lead through ambiguity.

  • Experience with international humanitarian law, disaster response and preparedness and public health programs.

  • Familiarity with military culture, regulations and protocol.

  • Knowledge of Red Cross programs, policies, procedures, and systems, both for the American Red Cross and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

PAY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $250,000-$300,000.
