Office of Inspector General Supervisory Auditor (Technical Director) Alexandria , Virginia Apply Now Summary This position is located in the Corporate Planning and Staff Support Management Division. This is a career broadening developmental opportunity. The incumbent will serve a 3-4-year term and then rotate into one of the Audit Directorates. The Technical Director manages all Audit programs and processes that support the establishment, maintenance, and execution of an effective and efficient component. This includes training, policy, budget execution, hiring, administrative support, and security. Responsibilities Directs development of policies and procedures in accordance with objectives and concepts of operation established by the DIG-AUD or IG. Makes recommendations to DIG-AUD on operational and administrative issues requiring policy decisions. Advises managers on trends, program weaknesses, and significant findings transcending directorates. Plans, administers, or controls Management Information Systems to support an effective and efficient operation. Oversees recruiting, onboarding, retention, and training. Oversees ODIG-AUDs budget and finance activities ensuring the economical and efficient utilization of resources. Supervises staff through subordinate supervisors, oversees or assigns work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Basic Qualifications for the 0511 Series: Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. or Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. Related fields that also may qualify: Business Management Criminal Justice General Business Homeland Security Information Security Information Technology International Business International Justice International Relations Investigative Reporting Journalism Management Management Operations Mathematics Organizational Management Public Policy Political Science Resource Management Any Major that includes 15hrs in accounting You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal Service demonstrating: Demonstrating a leadership role in advising executive leadership on administrative matters and operations Proficiency in collaboration and using process improvement practices to maximize efficiency of operations. Experience in maintaining successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: Auditing Series 0511 (opm.gov) Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction. Education There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GS-15 grade level. Due to the education requirement of this position, an unofficial transcript must be submitted at the time of application. If transcripts are not received, you will be rated as ineligible. You MUST provide unofficial transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. The unofficial transcripts must include the following information: name of accredited institution, grades earned, quarter or semester hours earned, and date degree conferred.
