The Vista School is Hiring a Behavior Consultant Assistant Near Hershey, PA

SUMMARY
The Behavior Consultant Assistant, under the direction of the Behavior Consultants, Supervisor, and Manager of Adult Behavior Support Services, addresses goals and areas of client need across home, day services, employment and community settings. Behavior Consultant Assistants assess the current needs of individuals, assist with behavior support plan development and implementation, train and coach team members, monitor treatment integrity, and review client progress towards ISP outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Implements and monitors treatment plan goals across settings
  • Effectively assesses client needs and areas of growth to inform treatment planning
  • Conducts all interactions with clients and internal and external team members in a positive, professional, and caring manner
  • Collaborates and communicates regularly with internal and external team members, including families, outside agencies, supports coordinators, and psychiatric clinicians (when applicable)
  • Communicates with assigned staff and team members to discuss programming, staff fidelity, and training needs
  • Trains direct support professionals on implementation of treatment plan goals and prescribed programming across environments; monitors progress and provides feedback
  • Provides coaching to all team members in a supportive and collaborative manner; receives and implements coaching from others to improve performance
  • Adds to the capacity of the department through development of systems and processes as well as training to fellow department members
  • Provides training to Vista employees and stakeholders on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Leads monthly treatment plan review (clinical) meetings and other meetings as assigned by lead Behavior Consultant
  • Maintains and submits all required documentation by expected deadlines
  • Hits target for weekly billable hours
  • Completes other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignment may require the ability to perform crisis management techniques in order to maintain a safe support environment.
The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, multi-step instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, depending on activity.
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
This is a minimum full time 40 hour per week position. Days and hours of the workweek are agreed upon by management, the client's schedule, and the Adult Services Calendar. The Behavior Consultant Assistant provides services across home, facility, employment, and community settings. Some evening hours may be required to meet the needs of the client.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related service field required
  • Previous experience or knowledge delivering Applied Behavior Analysis programming and methodology required
  • Previous experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders required
  • Ability to implement, train, and coach other staff on the implementation of services and proper crisis prevention and intervention techniques required
  • Successful completion of Safe and Positive Approaches training required
  • High proficiency of Microsoft Office products and internet applications required
  • Clean driving record, valid PA driver's license, current vehicle inspection, up-to-date vehicle registration, and proof of adequate insurance coverage required
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Previous experience working with adults under Chapter 6100 regulations highly desired
  • Current First Aid and CPR Training highly desired
  • Ability to independently problem solve and make quick decisions
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize both expected and unexpected work tasks
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
