The Opportunity: As a programmer, you know that machine learning (ML) is critical to understanding and processing massive datasets. Your ability to c ond uct statistical analyses on business processes using ML te chn iques makes you an integral part of delivering a customer-focused solution. As an ML engineer on our team, you'll train, test, deploy, and maintain models that learn from data. In this role, you'll contribute to the direction of mission-critical solutions by applying best-fit ML algorithms and te chn ologies. You'll grow within a large community of ML engineers across the firm and collaborate with data scientists, solutions architects, and product owners to deliver world-class solutions. Your consulting skills and te chn ical experience will help your clients navigate the landscape of ML algorithms, tools, and frameworks. You Have: * 4 years of experience with ML, data science, sof tware engineering, data research, or analytics in a professional or academic environment
* Experience constructing applications using a variety of both open-source and proprietary large language models ( LLMs ) * Experience in LLM operations and API management, including input validation, output monitoring, and prompt traces and management
* Experience with feature selection, computer vision, or natural language processing model building, and optimization using supervised and unsupervised ML te chn iques to support analytic objectives
* Experience with frequent scripting language use, including Python and R, and packages used in ML applications or advanced data analytics
* Ability to articulate workflows and explain te chn ical concepts to non-te chn ical audiences
* Ability to obtain a security clearance * Bachelor's degree Nice If You Have: * Experience developing agentic workflows with LLMs that encompass retrieval, reasoning, tool usage, and planning
* Experience leveraging LLM orchestration frameworks such as llamaindex, Langchain, and Haystack, to construct sophisticated agents and chains
* Experience developing recommendation engines and information retrieval systems
* Experience finetuning LLMs with libraries such as PEFT and TRL
* Ability to design custom evaluation frameworks and metrics tailored for generative workflows for root cause failure analysis and prompt optimizations
* Ability to work independently and achieve successful results with minimal guidance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
