The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through regular reconciliation and review. This position will report to the Controller.

MAJOR AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor accounts and prepare and record journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Adhere to record keeping procedures and accounting systems.
• Examine, or analyze accounting records or financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance with record keeping standards.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change; manage the process of innovative change effectively.
• Participate in client, partner or vendor meetings as an accounting liaison to discuss bank opportunities; identify needs and evaluate business solution alternatives.
• Ensure funding processes protect the bank against unnecessary risk.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compliance - Assists in the Bank's compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

• Develop familiarity with all applicable federal and state banking rules and regulations.
• Adhere to all applicable Bank policies and procedures.
• Cooperate with banking Regulators and Auditors.

Interpersonal/Team Skills - Cultivate and maintain a professional image and rapport with customers, the public, co-workers, Regulators, Auditors, Bank Management and Directors.

• Positive attitude and the ability to take direction and accept constructive feedback.
• Keep appropriate parties informed of project status, problems, issues, etc.
• Negotiate and attempt to resolve conflicts around projects or work assignments; communicate problems to manager as needed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Intermediate level knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related degree or equivalent work experience.
• Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excel/Microsoft Office proficiency.

Preferred Experience/Skills

• Knowledge of banking/financial services industry
• 1 - 2 years' experience within financial services institution
